Wood-Mode?

Gene_Davis | Posted in Business on February 17, 2007 07:26am

We may be needing to do biz with these guys for a cab package, one with some custom touches, and certainly some custom sizes.  We’ve not done a Wood-Mode job before.

If you have done Wood-Mode, tell us what we can expect.

Last time I used them. Took 5 months to get, 2-3 months to fix screwups and missing items, looked fantastic when finished. I used the frameless style and seemed high price for what the cabinets were. First class finish on the doors and fronts.

Double check the order when placed, did I say it takes a while to get the missing things! Anything special is expensive. i.e. inch wider etc.

These days I build my own and order the doors and drawer fronts. Just as good and pays better.

who do you find is the best for fronts? Walzcraft?

        Walzcraft?

That is who I've been using, really nice and good speed on delivery. Fast customer service. I had ordered some large doors (24x78) twice dropped by UPS. Replaced within 2 weeks including painted. Impressed by this.

Placed an order on the feb 2 2007, arrived feb 16 including shipping. I have used them many times. My problems with woodmode may have been caused by the dealer but it took way too long to correct.

Gene, I've only put in a couple Wood-Mode kitchens in the last few years and I wasn't involved in any of the ordering or anything.  I'd just like to say that the finish on them, either painted or stained is the nicest I've ever seen on any factory cabinet.

Used to help dad put in lots of them years back when there was a dealer here.

      like the others have said...

      Nice finish, doors and frames.

      assembly is not really good

and the guy who staples on the packing needs to cut out the caffiene.

      brookhaven is the midgrade line.

      PB sheetgoods

theter are definitely better cabs out there, especially for the $$$

Name those better cab manufacturers and their product lines, if you please.

The Wood-Mode line we are looking at is called their Design Group 84.  It is the frameless style of their top line stuff.  Design Group 42 is the same in terms of features, finish, but is all faceframed.

We are aware of Crown Point being high end stuff, willing to do custom anything, but who else is out there that does biz in the NE part of the country?

Good cabs depending on how you spec them.

I have put in several Wood Mode and their lesser line Brookhaven kitchens. I agree with some of the above posts. The finish is exceptional. Sometimes the build is off slightly. The guy on caffene wrapping them to ship sucks. I have never had any problems with wating for missing pieces, wrong items etc. I always asked dealer to rush and had good results. HOWEVER. I am doing a kitchen now, top end WoodMode, custom this and that, special colors, 49 cabinets total. I started early Jan. and am still waiting for things to be shipped. This should have been a nice 2 week job, good $, and now it is starting to suck. I dont know whose fualt but I am not to happy.
