Any insight into the fluctuation of wood prices lately? I’ve everything from “plywood is headed to China and the Middle East” to “hurricanes have killed the hardwoods this year”…
Every piece I pick up seems to be green or not dry or really knotty. I used to know that I had to pick through the stuff at HD but now I’m having to scour a few things at the lumberyard as well.
Someone hopped on Craigs List today wanting to sell the knotty pine in their new “old” house cheap (basically, “please remove it if you can use it”) and I was almost tempted because I’m seeing such a shortage of good wood! I’m working like mad to save anything we find in this old stuffed house (like in the rafters of the garage). Even funky pieces because I just can’t get the good stuff.
Ergh.

Where I live I wouldn't call it fluctuation. Just a continuous, consistent & steady rise.
Up, yes. Sorry, I was using fluctuation in the sense that there has "been a change". Let me rephrase.
Hey, why are the wood prices rising so fast? What are folks saying about that around the lumber yard?
