Does anyone have any tips on applying a runny, watery wood stain to exterior t-111 textured siding, three stories up? Thank you, Chipper 11-11-03

I always wondered if a pump sprayer would work, assuming you don't have a spray outfit. Get it on, even it up brushing it out maybe.

It's going to be kinda of a messy job regardless of which application method you use. If you're brushing, use a block bristle brush- they hold more stain and don't drip as much. Use plenty of drop cloths and plastic to protect areas you don't want stained. No easy way around it.
Son and I wore rain coats when rolling it on. Didn't get too messy. Still scraping off the specs from my glasses, though.
I never met a tool I didn't like!
Used a roller with a solid stain last week on a shed I rebuilt. I brushed in the grooves while my son used a roller (3/8" nap) with a 6 foot extension. Worked well. But we were on the ground, for the most part (peak was about 15 feet up.) Make sure you coat ALL surfaces. I took the time to do the edges, even under the door. And I used an oil based stain. Don't know if it will aid in protecting the T1-11 any more, but figured it couldn't hurt, either.
