Wood Stove coated with Fire Cement- will it be less efficient?
Hi All,
Will a cracked cast iron wood heating stove, repaired with a coating of fire cement on the inside, be less efficient because the heat can’t get to the metal to be radiated to the outside?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Peter

Not a problem for heat transfer , but keep an eye on the repair to be sure the fire cement doesn't crack.
I would have to agree. As the metal heats up it will expand and the result would be to crack the cement with it.
get some nickel rod and weld it when hot.
Ni weld when hot
