Our barn is a metal building, the overhead door openings are “framed” in red iron. I would like to trim-out the red iron with pressure-treated cedar. Can I attach the cedar boards directly to the red iron with self-driiling screws? Do I need to put anything betweem the red iron and the cedar? Thanks.

I never heard of pressure treated cedar but none the less I think for added saftey I'd put some 30lb felt behind each piece to keep the condensation off. If the screws protrude to the inside you may want to consider a piece of trim on the inside as well to accept the screw ends sandwhiching the metal between them
HAve fun

Thanks for saving me face and time looking for something that doesn't exist. I just assumed that any lumber in contact with concrete had to be pressure-treated and thus the cedar would be. Should I also caulk the edges to keep moisture out? Thanks again.
