Does anyone have information on using wood trim/kickboards, with a routed-out back, as a raceway for running and hiding speaker wires from the stereo.
I have not had much luck researching this project…any information or references you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
The Wiremold company makes pre-fabricated raceways like you're describing. Most are nylon, metal or plastic, though I think the have wood veneers available on many styles. They're primarily for commercial use, but some types would work well for a residential/home application.

A trim carpenter I know does this alot (Routing out baseboards). He also burys etehrnet wire and phone while he's at it. He cut's in an old work box and drills a hole behind the baseboard to fish the wires up and no-one knows it was a retrofit. Obviously you can't use the cheap crap from home depot though.
I've considered using a clip system in new wall for such use at a later date. Just pop off the BB, run or change your wires and snap it back in place without a single nail.

*Rob,Cool idea. Never liked the old concept of burying communications wiring behind the wall during construction. The commercial approach recognizes that standards change, and accessibility is usually a design feature, and it should translate to a house pretty easily. You know, of course, that the phantom that sneaks into houses and paints window sashes shut will also paint your baseboards into the walls.
