Wood versus cement

Shopping for prefinished clapboard material today.  I’ll need about 6500 lf of 1/2 x 7-1/4 (6″ exposure) and got these quotes.

WRC, clear VG, two coats finish, $2.24/lf

Certainteed fiber cement, grain textured, two coats finish, $0.62/lf

For a painted job, why would anyone go with wood?

BTW, on a fibercement siding job, how do the butt joints look?
