Wooden Flagpole Posts Material, Locust or Pressure Treated
I have a 30ft wooden flagpole. Quite old but in good condition. It was at a neighbors house for over 50 years. I dug around it and then cut the original posts. I went to a lumberyard and had 2 8ft locust posts made, 4 ft below and 4 feet above ground level. I heard locust posts never rot. I sunk them in cement and the cement came up to ground level. They rotted just below the surface, both of then exactly the same and it came down. Didn’t even last 10 years!!! I want to resink it but am not sure if I should use Locust again or getter pressure treated waterproof posts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

looks like you proved that locust is not rot proof. use ground contact pressure treated.
Install a galvanized pipe set in concrete and sticking a foot or so above the ground. Put some preservative in it and slip the pole inside.
PS in the olden days we'd just fill the pipe with creosote.
