Here's a cut and paste of the original post at Knots -
"Hey guys,
I have a woodmizer LT 30 which I am selling. It is a 1984 model with automatic feed and height adjustment. This is a manual mill in that you have to move your logs manually (no hydraulics). Power is a 14 hp Kohler . This mill will cut a sixteen foot log and will cut up to about 36 inches in diameter if you slab off several sides and narrow down the log to a "cant" .
Woodmizer is regarded as the best and one of the easiest to use. I also have the sharpening system and blade setting jig and several blades for it
I am asking 2500.00 dollars and I could possibly deliver if it is within a reasonable distance (I am between Youngstown and Cleveland) For those of you not familiar this is a tow behind mill and only weighs about fifteen hundred pounds.

why did you copy/paste? you're buyin' it, right?

I'm thinking about it, Doud. 2500 bones? Well worth consideration. Do you happen to know if that model has log manipulation ability AFTER the log is on the bed? Or is that part manual too? Guess I'd better go back to http://www.usedsawmillexchange.com and do some homework, huh?

muscle/lever power.... it should have a winch and ramp to help load - 16' bed - -'84 is an early model, 14 horse is not going to set production records, and with no hydraulics I wouldn't want go into the custom sawyering business, but for personal use...whadda deal...
it should be plenty enough to give you the bug...
maybe he'd meet you half way - say the Minnesota/South Dakota border...<G>
nose around here also - they will be happy to answer any questions you have... http://www.woodmizer.com/welcome.html "there's enough for everyone"
Hey Boss,
Good point about posting the link, shouda thought about that. To the rest of you thanks for copying and pasting for me, Ive been gone all day and just got home.
I might consent to meet someone halfway if it is within reason but would want to have a done deal before driving that far
In answer to the question of log handling capability Dave Doud is correct in that this is a manual mill in that respect. However unless you have huge logs it isn't too difficult to turn them by hand with a couple of Peavys which are available from various sources including woodmizer. You can buy anything you need for this mill from them as well , they back up their product better than anybody. Definitely a class act.
Right now I don't have the time or space to use it or I wouldn't even consider selling it. And I will admit that I want the top of the line model as I have access to a fair amount of logs. But that will have to wait for a year or so.
thanks guys
Mark
FWIW, I have a 1984 vintage LT-30. Must be exactly the same, 'cause there sure weren't a lot of options then. It's a lot of grunt work, not having any log handling features, but I use two cant hooks and a small tractor with forks on the front, and I can work with anything up to about 20" dia. and 14' long by myself, not too difficult. Any bigger than that, in either direction, and it gets tough.
The 14 hp Kohler is a workhorse, mine is still going strong.
One recommendation - for the guy who steals this mill for $2500 (yes, I said steal), bring it to the nearest WM facility and have them do a complete overhaul. There are a lot of parts that can be and should be upgraded. I had the New York branch put $1600 worth of parts and labor into mine when I bought it last winter (for $4500). They replaced the drive belts, feed chain, speed control, bandsaw tires, did complete engine maintenance, retrofitted new blade guides, a blade lube kit and some other misc. parts, and checked and adjusted everything they didn't replace. It may be an old rusty beast, but it will cut perfectly if you have the wear parts replaced and the machine properly adjusted and calibrated.
Can you post any pic's? I might be tempted if I could see it. My mouth is already watering.

I will take some pics and post them tomorrow night if possible. That is if it is not sold by then. I just had a call form someone who seems very serious and is supposed to come and look at it in the next two days.
Thanks
Hey guys,
