My house is 3,050 sq. ft. located in Boston burbs. Approximately 30% of it is the original 2*4 while the other 70% is 2*6. The house is about to get fiberglass insulation (min. code requirements). My insulator guy said that for an extra $4,500 he will Spray foam all roof sheathing, Spray foam all exterior 2×4 walls, Spray foam 1st and 2nd floor band joist, Fiberglass batts in all 2×6 exterior walls, Fiberglass batts in basement ceiling.
So far I purchased 29 triple pane windows (total of 32), I purchased a super high efficiency gas heater and I sprayed (great stuff) everywhere I can see light coming through.
Is this worth it? Is it a good deal?

Polyurethane Insulation
More info needed. Sounds good, you have done a good job of spending a lot of money in other areas. Windows, furnace.( that is good, i think. ) Don't skimp on the main thing, insulation. Is it 1/2 lb. or 2 lb? what's the thickness? what is the applicators track record? how long has he been applying the stuff? do your homework!!!
Insulating the basement cailing to any degree of success is going to be a lot harder (to nearly impossible) especially with fiberglass. Insulating the basement walls would be a better option. Dense packed cellulose is a better option than fiberglass which near on impossible to install correctly. If you have the whole place stripped to the studs anyway, you might consider building a second wall in side the first 2x4 walls and then blowing the whole space full of cellulose. You will break the movement of cold thru the 2.4 studs to your wall surface and gte other benefits as well. GREENBUILDINGADVISOR is a good place to throw out this type of question.
