I got a flier from Woodcraft yesterday and they have the Worx 7 1/4 saw on sale. Half off at 70.00+tx. Any body have this saw or any Worx tools. No experience with them myself so I thought I would ask here. Wayne

Never seen or used one. If it was me, I'd look at a Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita, Dewalt, PC mag (if it's still being made) or Hilti. Worx may be great . . . just don't know.
If money was a concern I'd look at reconditioned at one of the CPO sites or keep your eye out for one on Craig's List.
If you do get the Worx, keep us posted at how it worx.
Ohhh...that's the worxt pun
Ohhh...that's the worxt pun I've seen in a long time. :)

I've got a PC lefty thats 10 years old and still running. I could set it back and use it as a backup saw. I've definitly gottten my money out of it. I'm thinkin of gettin it and if I don't like it I'll take it back. And I'll give you a report on it.

Worx are imitation saws.
It'll be fine if you only use it on Sundays to cut a few 1x4s with
I'll tell you, I bought the
I'll tell you, I bought the new Makita 5007 Mag about a year ago and just love it. I bought it reconditioned on ebay for $100.00, case, rip guide, toolbelt included. It is far more accurate and smooth running than the DeWalt 364? I've been using for fifteen years. Think about it: $70.00 or $100.00, it's still just part of a day's wages, and you'll be using it for years, so get something you'll enjoy using. Fighting a sub-par sidewinder just stinks. One of the regulars (maybe Mike Guertin) reviewed sidewinders a few years ago and really liked the Milwaukee. Again, I've been really pleased with the Makita, but I will say that its rip guide should be better. Its dimensions are such that you can't get a rip between 3" and 3-1/2" because its tail isn't long enough to get under the clamp screw. On the other hand, it has a good led and good sight lines.
You actually use the rip guide? I've never used mine, and have never seen anyone use one. But then again, I usually work alone, lol
I've owned or used about
I've owned or used about every saw on the market. I find myself using my cheapo Ryobi cordless more and more now adays. The little thing will gut a 2x12 if you go slow enough. I'll be able to go faster once I finally get the good blade for it.
Milwuakee was my favorite until I switched to lefties. I just liked the way it felt. Ridgid makes a fantastic worm drive. With a good blade, its a smooth ride.
With $70 you can get a recon that will be a much better choice. I'll admit that Worx is one brand I've never tried, but I've never seen one on the job site and I'm sure there is good reason for that. The Makitas are good, basic saws. I probably see more of them than any other brand. You can find a recon for less than $70.
I'll second that thought on
I'll second that thought on the Ridgid. I really love that saw!
Here's one but I'm sure you
Here's one but I'm sure you can find them everywhere for a similar price.

I got to thinking about it. You really ought to make the decision for yourself. Asking a forum of carpenters their favorite saw is like asking a bunch of nerds what their favorite role playing game is.
Go to the store. Pick the saw up and see how it feels in your hand. Plug it up if they will let you, and see how it sounds. If you feel like it will do what you need it to do, find out about the stores waranty and return policy. If you like what you hear, buy it and take it home and brutilize it.
I want to own the best of everything, but I've got to pay bills too. Sometimes I have to settle for a Pinto and not a Ford F-150. I use my Northern Tool circular saw with laser to cut cement board, plaster, and shingled roofs. My good saw cuts wood.
