Would Our plasma TV’s work in the UK?

Hypothetically speaking….
If one were to move to the UK, which electronics/appliances/toys would be rendered useless by their backwards running electricity?
How or what could one do to circumvent the issue?

Does drilling new screws into the roof rafters compromise the strength of the roof?

IIRC you have two issues.
operating voltage/frequency
and for the TV, the standards used for broad cast.
the first may be overcomable by using transformers, the second ????

We know that our broadcasts have poor standards, but from what I've seen of theirs, they got no room to talk!

I've seen more than one hair dryer burn out with adaptors ...
no way I'd trust ruining an expensive electronic piece.
how long U going?
I'd sell it and buy new there.
just like I finally made my wife do with the damn hairdryer!

Lived there once. Unless they have changed their picture format, not compatible. They had adifferent number of lines in their picture. Perhaps HD stds are international, dunno. But - their 50 Hertz power will not treat your 60 Hertz set kindly in the long haul.
Leave your set here & buy/rent one there.

What about computers? Will they compute backwards?
Possibly - even in the good old US of A, Macs run backwards from PCs. One runs what is called "big endian" and the other runs "little endian" - which means that the high order digit in their binary strings is at one end with the Mac and the other end on the PC. When you transfer data between Macs and PCs, your conversion program has to flip the strings end for end. Same with UNIX computers and IBM mainframes - back in the dawn of computing, which I had to transfer data between our DEC UNIX computers and the IBM mainframe, I had to reverse the digits on all the data.Probably not what you were joking about, however....
Pete: I don't know if you are serious or not - but let me tell you of our experience. We spen 18 mo there back in 1979-1981. They have 240 volt power running at 50 Hertz. For any appliance from the US that ran on DC after the voltage was converted from 240- 110, no sweat. If the gizmo ran on AC, there could be problems - like anything w/ a motor ran 5/6 as fast, leading to poential overheating & slower speeds. We ran a BIG Amana microwave oven off a transformer & it worked just fine. Washer ran poorly. Rented one of their TV's because of the picture incompatibility.
Cheers!
