I have a new factory building/shop, and it is getting a new lid (roof). There is some rot from the prior owner’s deferred mintainance, so I need to source some 2 1/2″ thick SYP or Doug. Fir for replacement planks. I suppose any width would do, but 6″+ would be great. If it is overly thick, I can get it to size and shape pretty easily (with a bit of sweat, of course). If it were near Philadelphia, that would be great. Shipping cost would be a bear. Porbably need about 500 sq. feet or so, poss. 1000 sq. ft.
Thanks for any help.
I placed this on Knots, but some suggested this would be a better spot.

Find some guys in your neighborhood that are timber framers. They are the ones with sources for sawn stock at that thickness. The timber framer I know would probably name three or more sources off the top of his head, but none of them would have SYP. It would be doug fir.

Geen,
Thanks. I have now talked to a few timberframers, and one is checking some 8x8 syp pricing for some wood he has left over. They were all great to talk to.Alan
