Some of us have bigger problems than others . Some are doing pretty good . I figgure most of us at one time or another get our dobber down . Yours truly included.
Yup , Ive had the bug like the flu. Still wrestlin over real estate in our modern times of war and fuel. I dont have the answers this time and thats had my dobber down. Ive been up all night long thinking about it . Every minute . I laid down for a couple hours but thoughts were racing through my head . So in front of the computer I find myself .
Im tired of thinking about it for a little while so I look up local sports . I read this article first Im fixing to paste so hold on a minute. Ill get to it .
In the business books Ive chosen to keep handy like a bible some of them are motivators depending on what subjects. Zig Ziglar reccomends we read 2 books like that per month and be sure to read all hes got out there. One man I respect thats successful tries to see one movie a month thats motivational. Any old story line will do if it does that .
This is really why this is posted in the business section and the fact Id like to share a true story that actually came out in our state paper in the sports section. This writer is the best we have and hes not too shabby. He has just been inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall Of Fame . Pretty good huh? Well its not about him but he did the story. With out further to do my friends ;

I've read about and sorta followed this kids path, pretty inspiring child.
I saw him on the news several times, always positive and smiling from ear to ear. He looks at his situation no different then you or I would look at a small problem at work, find a solution, cant quit because a hammer handle broke or........

A man named Billy King died last year at somewhere around 80 yrs young.
Im not very good at memory any more but he lost his dominant arm when he was 18 in the war . What war ? I dunno. Doesnt matter I dont guess. Hes lived in this town all my life of course and worked in the court house in offices. They did a few full page articles on him over the years I remember . He was a volunteer member of like everything and was always present at functions. Its a heck of a long list . Bigger than any one else gave of time .
I went to the same coffee shop as him and his wife was my 6th grade principle and teacher. They didnt know ANY strangers . Ill quit goin on about them but they were both awsome . I worked for them too and was fed every day somthing .
On with the story. haha
I asked him one day at coffee how he worked in an office with one hand ? He had his hand blown off with a high caliber round rifle . [dont remember which one ]
They said King were shipping you home. He told them he didnt want to go home . He came to serve his country. He was serious about it and that ended up in front of his commander . He went to the top, or as top as he could go anyway. The commander asked what he thought he could do? Anything I can do , just give me a chance . They thought he could be a messenger and he said fine . But the offices used him when he asked if he could do more stuff. He wanted to learn somthing he could take home so they said great . He ended up on a typwriter . He said a year of that and his one hand could fly over the keys not really missing the other hand . They taught him any thing he could do and it ended up running an office for supplies requests.
He ended up doing land and court reccords for 40 years . He wouldnt leave the court house and they didnt want him to. They loved him as a boss because he taught them anything they wanted to know . He turned jobs over to them when they told him they could handle it. The county judge said one time he had thought many times about having him serve in every office so all the people could benifit from his kindness.
Mebbe that boy will turn out touching other people too with his attitude.

It's a funny thing that attitude is. Makes you do anything you want or keeps you from doing anything you want - your choice!
I've watched this kid now for a couple years and I'm convinced I'll see him play big league ball someday, or something equivalent. He lives for the play.

MOst people that get kicked in the nutts that hard dont get up with a smile on their face . If I was terminal , Im like Jeff . I dont think I could muster a good attitude.
Most people who were raised living in a car and mouth to mouth meals trying to survive dont turn out successfull.
Makes us feel very fortunate . We are !

Everytime my wife makes a comment about money or some other thing I always tell her, hell you make more money then probably 85% of the world! Quit yer bitchin.
It's very easy to forget how fortunate we are!
Doug
I love to see stories like that. Thank you.

Wally is no Orville Henry but then again, OH's son is no Orville Henry.
Orville is not bad. I agree. You from here?
Tim,
I'm live in NW Ark.
Cool, were not far apart.
DW and I lived in a car for a few months before we were wed. Spent one New Years Eve reading The Once and Future King to eachother over the seat back.
Figured if we could handle that, we could handle anything!
Forrest - in a house now
I got a divorce one time that broke me . Im talkin about just change in my pocket. Brother Loaned me a grand to get her paid off but I didnt ask for me. I went and drew 500 from a contractor I was going to work for as a sub and he was a good man to write the check. I just told him the truth and he dd it . That got me through his job and back on my feet but I didnt have a place to live and couldnt afford it . I stayed in a primitive cabin of my dads. I had to that to keep my business.
It wasnt all that bad and Im not saying it was hard . I was young and strong . I heated a bucket of water for a bath every night and didnt have an out house. I built one and drew water from a well by hand .
It was humbling and a great experience. It didnt cost anything to live that way. Got me through till the checks came in . Wasnt long term.
