A classic problem of having religious and traditional experts directing a technical and very physical world. Prayer and tradition is fine but lock the door. Close the barn door and double check the circuit to make sure it is off no matter how sure the lineman is that it is off.

A classic problem of having religious and traditional experts directing a technical and very physical world. Prayer and tradition is fine but lock the door.

4LORN1 - sometimes it works the other way - at a church I used to attend, in a rebuilding, during the kitchen "final" the county inspector told us we had to upgrade the extinguishers over the cooking area.  We mentioned that the plans had been put togther by experts, and reviewed by experts, and seemed to met the language and calculations of the applicable code sections, so we wondered why he felt they needed to be upgraded.

He responded with: "Have you ever seen one of those deep fat fryers go up during your Friday night fish fry?"

After a respectful silence, our committee head responded that, "as the Community Presbyterian Church, we never had seen one of those go up during a Friday nigh fish fry!"

The pastor then diplomatically pulled out the kitchen plans for the inspector to look over again to give him a chance to save some face, while the rest of us (including his assistent) tried to keep from laughing out loud.  I had to talk a short walk outside, myself {G}_______________________

Bob, " "as the Community Presbyterian Church, we never had seen one of those go up during a Friday nigh fish fry!" "

I don't get it. Enlighten me please. I'm not a christian-- well, I'm not even religious. I don't understand what's funny about it. Slainte.Website

Richard, Even tho there's chrome fish on the back of christians cars, normally the only ones known for fish fries are the mackeral sna...........er catholics.  Hope that helps.__________________________________________

Ah, Calvin, something to do with the Catholic thing of eating fish on a Friday-- I vaguely remember that from school-- fish every Friday available for those of a certain persuasion.

Yeah, that fish thing threw me when I moved to the US. Never had seen such a thing on the back of a car in the UK-- we're not what could really be considered an actively religious nation, although there's some official vestiges of religosity kicking about, and people go to church weddings and funerals and some pretend for half an hour or so.

The US on the other hand is a hotbed of religions and big business-- got to watch what you say. So for about six months or more after moving to the US, I thought the fish thing must be the symbol of a local car dealer, but I never did come across any adverts proclaiming something like, "Come to Honest Abe Fish for your new car."  I had to be put straight on that one by 'Er Indoors, who is an American.

And after she'd told me what it was all about, I said that none of the drivers in the 'fish' cars could be christians, because they all drive too selfishly to have any christian tendencies, ha, ha. Slainte.Website

ha is right Richard.  How bout near rear ending trying to read those fine print bumper stickers that speak to God?

Yearly fish fry down at St. Joes a few blocks away.  Man.  Some serious eating.  Nothing like 500 deepfried fish eating folks in the church basement.  Politicians on rare occasion slither in there.  Something fishy me thinks.__________________________________________

The "God Listens' sticker, Calvin? That'll be the driver he listens to very carefully as the said driver cuts in front of you having given no signal, and forces you to slam on the brakes to avoid ramming the back of him, and whilst he's doing that party trick he gives you the single finger salute and mouths obscenities at you.

Nice chromed fish symbol right next to the God Listens sticker too. I wonder what church that kind of 'christian' goes to, ha, ha? The Church of Latter Day Morons, maybe? Slainte.  Website

I don't suppose anyone found a picture of this thing? I googled around for a bit and didn't find one.
