Use a Square to Scribe a Circle
It may sound deceiving, but this tip will leave your compass out of the equation completely
This tip submitted by Fine Homebuilding reader Matthew C. Jackson of Rapid City, South Dakota, proves you don’t need a compass to draw a perfect circle; you can use your framing square instead. Mark the desired diameter on your workpiece, drive a nail on each end, and slide your framing square and pencil from nail-to-nail with the inside edges of the square constantly touching the nails as you go.
