Pre-civil war 1000sq/ft “hardship house” with one small unseemly bathroom off the kitchen that had an apartment-sized sink hung slightly over the tub. No linen storage. A restricted 1/2 lot and a desire to preserve backyard footage made it a challenge to accommodate a larger kitchen and 2 full baths to accommodate frequent guests. Smart design and scale accommodated everything! Moving the original bathroom allowed traffic flow and relocating a bedroom door gave a second full bath. Both bathrooms are in the original house interior but tall ceilings with self-closing window skylights created air, light, and an illusion of spaciousness, and spa-like feel.
