Laser Plumb Bob Speeds Ceiling Drywall Installation
Locate cutouts for recessed can lights using this ingenious tip.
If you’re hanging drywall on a ceiling that has many recessed can lights, you could use your tape measure to mark each location, but there’s a better way.
Mike Guertin of East Greenwich, R.I., uses a laser plumb bob to speed up the process of locating can lights and other ceiling cutouts in the drywall. Before hanging the drywall set up the laser under each light location and mark the location on the floor with a piece of blue tape. When the drywall is hung, return the laser to the tape location, mark the drywall, and then cut the hole with a drywall router.
