Tough Drywall
This high-performance drywall is one of the strongest out there.
I find it a little tough to get excited about drywall, but I’ll make an exception for CertainTeed’s newest 1/2-in.-thick drywall, dubbed Habito. The new product is said to be as tough as 5/8-in.-thick drywall, and it can hold up to 30 lb. from a single screw without wall anchors or special hardware. CertainTeed suggests that these qualities make it an ideal upgrade for hallways, living rooms, garages, and other high-traffic areas. Because of its impressive fastener-holding ability, Habito might also be a sensible upgrade for rooms that endure regular redecoration. The company says that using Habito in a living room, kitchen, and basement costs between $300 and $500 more than standard drywall.
