Building a Modern Mantel: Assembly on the Bench

Episode 4: Assembly on the Bench
In this episode, cabinetmaker Seb Eggert joins the mantel shelf to the frieze and adds the trim before moving to the jobsite.
The basic plan was to build up the frieze board, then attach the shelf above and wrap the bands of trim below. The last bit of shop work is to apply the finish to the mantel, a simple procedure that showcases the character of the wood.
