Episode 5: Installation
In this episode, you’ll learn how Seb scribed and attached the parts to the wall around the fireplace to create the finished mantel. Seb’s strategy was to first scribe and attach the legs to the wall, then add the parting strip and the mantel. He uses several unusual tools to remove material, slowly sneaking up to the scribe line for a perfect fit. Dealing with the absence of blocking and using a French cleat figure prominently in the final stages of this mantel installation.
