Locating Studs for Baseboard Installation
The trim won't hold up if there's nothing behind it. Finish carpenter Tucker Windover shares his method for finding studs.
In perfect situations, carpenter Tucker Windover starts trimming out a room by marking the studs on the floor with red crayon before the drywall goes up. In this gem from the Fine Homebuilding Video Vault, he explains that in occasions when he can’t do that, he can still quickly find stud locations along the length of an entire wall, using an electrical box as his reference point.
