Weatherproof Kitchen Countertop
The Outdoor Collection of kitchen worktops from Caesarstone is naturally nonporous with a resin that protects against color fading.
Countertops have a hard enough time holding up to the abuse a typical kitchen goes through, so finding a material that can also withstand harsh outdoor conditions is especially challenging.
Quartz-countertop manufacturer Caesarstone has offered a solution to this problem with their new Outdoor Collection of countertops. The biggest difference between their indoor surfaces and the new Outdoor Collection is a patented resin that protects against color fading from UV rays and extreme temperatures. Caesarstone has thoroughly tested this new material from -13°F to 122°F in rain, sun, standing water, and freezing conditions. Its surface is naturally nonporous and water repellent, so there’s never a need to seal the countertops as there is with natural stone or concrete.
While the company’s maintenance recommendations are similar for both indoor and outdoor products, Caesarstone suggests covering outdoor countertops and removing metal objects when not in use to avoid rust and stains. The Outdoor Collection is currently available in three neutral colors—Palm Shade, Midday, and Clearskies—and is 2 cm thick.
Pricing ranges from $75 to $125 per sq. ft., installed.
