We found out on return from our honeymoon that our 1940s house was infested with mold. Gyplap sheathing was covered in side and outside of sheathing with high levels of a common mold that we were allergic to. We decided that if we had to reengineer the house when removing the sheathing we might as well just rip the whole thing down to the foundation and build our modern dream home. We design it ourselves, drew the plans, GC’ed the project and did most of the work minus some things like HVAC and mudding/taping drywall, rough in plumbing, along with a few other things.
It has taken us 4 years and we are almost 100% finished but the transformation has been great. And we are still married which is a feat in itself with all the stresses of building your own house.

For what it's worth, I love what the two of you have done. It's very modern and absolutely gorgeous. Great job (not that you need me to say it,:))
