Besides being old, dirty and small, the plumbing had to go and it needed a rewire.
We demolished the enitre kitchen (as part of a whole house remodel) and pushed out the wall on the left (south) side to give us a little more room without adding too much to construction costs.
This extra room made it possible to put in a center island.
We had to cut the slab to run plumbing to the right (north) side of the kitchen because we wanted two sinks for this kosher kitchen.
The finished product has a breakfast counter just to the left (south) of the sink that seats four people plus two people can sit at the ned of the island to watch the chef.
We installed a large reverse osmosis water filter in the garage (just behind the kitchen). We pipe this water to the ice maker and hot/cold water dispensers so we don’t take up space under the sinks.
There’s a range plus two ovens, two sinks, two microwaves, two dishwashers a pantry, plenty of cabinets and a 48″ refrigerator/freezer. But, my favorite feature is the pot filler at the stove. It makes filling stock pots faster and easier.
