This kitchen was part of a home rehab project in Oceanside, CA. The entire house was in the before condition when I purchased it. Afterwards the entire house was in the same condition as the kitchen shown here. The light boxes in the kitchen and master bath were inspired by a project in Fine Homebuilding.
Keeping HVAC systems within the conditioned enclosure can be tough without a basement; one option is to use plenum trusses for the roof, which offer a space for equipment and ductwork.
