This kitchen in our own house had been remodeled in the 60’s with plywood cabinets, vinyl floors and a brown sink. We restored as much as possble including the Douglas Fir flooring and the incised plaster wainscotting. For the rest, we tried to make it feel more like the original kitchen from the 1930’s.

An overview of the length of the kitchen with the restored Fir floor and new door to the back yard and basement
The north end of the kitchen looking toward the dining room, with the new dish cabinet. That's Marmoleum on the countertop
The refrigerator, cookbooks, and cat shelf. The 9' ceilings allowed for a second set of upper cabinets
Details of storage. We really like the big drawers, if they are subdivided inside.
The dish cabinet has a shelf flush with the countertop and the Marmoleum continues on inside. The shelves are a full one inch thick to support the load over this span. They also are fixed and correspond to the divisions in the doors.
