Opening up a kitchen with no added space
This tightly packed kitchen was opened up to the adjoining dining room and the compact, single user peninsula was converted to an elongated island that allowed traffic through and separated the sink and range from each other and the elbow-bumping corner they shared.
We elected to leave the windows in place and orient the breakfast counter towards the backyard views by running a counter right across the existing opening.
The large island and clear views -both inside and out- make this kitchen better suited for entertaining as well as everyday life.
