The bathroom was one of the first major projects we tackled on our own. Contractors would not call us back. Finally one took pity on us. “You can’t get the project you want for the money you have to spend,” he said…. and gave us a list of his subcontractors and told us the order to proceed.
We salvaged the wood and the medicine cabinet and handled all of the woodwork and painting along with some of the hardware installation. Miracle Method saved our tub through refinishing. All fixtures are chrome plated. A plumber helped with the installation of the tub hardware and I worked with the plasterer. Any wood that could not be salvaged was replaced with douglas fir, so that some future owner would not be dissapointed when stripping the room.
We designed the tile to give the bathroom a 1920’s feel though our house is a 1910 Craftsman Bungalow. This project sucked up one summer. Luckily the neighborhood park has a bathroom.
