I’ve been rustling around in my bag of tricks and I noticed I have a simple, fast, efficient, and incredibly cheap way of managing cords and gun hoses.
Basically, I lace up my cords. To do this I cut a length of 1/8 inch nylon line about 24 inches long, knot both ends (to prevent fraying) and lay it on the ground. Next I coil a cord (reach-and-grab style, not around my elbow). I lay the cord (the coil is in an oval shape now) on the center of the line. Then I wrap the line around the cord at the top of the oval. Next step is easier than tying your shoes: tie the first half of a granny (shoe) knot and cinch it. Splay the ends of the line, place the next cord. Once I’m done lacing up my cords, I stay the whole thing with a square knot (left over right, right over left).
If I want to get really fancy I can tie a bowline knot on one end of the line then hang the entire bundle of cords on a nail in the shop, off my truck racks, wherever. The cords (I also include multi-plugs in this gaggle) never get co-mingled, they’re always ready when I need them, and it only takes about three brain cells to understand. You can even teach a laborer how to do it. Really! I do the same thing for gun hoses, keeping them separate from the cords.
