My sawhorses are nice and compact, can be cut on, and are made from 100% salvaged material and scrap. The bevel angle for the leg cuts is 20 degrees, and they are roughly 26 inches in length. I stand on both the braces and the top comfortably. 2 with a plank make a great stage for celing work. The one in the picture is about 3 years old and still holding up great.

The top is just a 2x6, 30in long that is easily replaced when it gets too haggered from cutting on it. The 1/2 in holes on each end accomodate the rafter hook from my skilsaw or framing nailer. A cordless drill or screwdriver also fits nicely.

From underneath. The cross braces can be either 1x4 or 3/4 ply. I wrap the strap around the leg, then screw the brace over top to secure it.

A pair of old door hinges combined with only one side of the legs being attached (toe screwed from underneath) allow the legs to fold. The knuckle of the hinge should sit low enough for the 2x6 to sit flat on top of the beveled legs.

Folded up these guys take up vey little space in the truck and can be made from scraps you have lying around the site and salvaged hinges.

The DIY centers are full of composite brackets into which you insert 4X2. Great except they take up space. The folding saw horse is a good idea. Thanks for sharing your ideas, especially the angles and length.
