This home is a two story 2000 SF timber frame built from old growth doug fir. All timber recycled from Pier 3 in Astoria OR (built in 1913). All cabinets and trim are built from the same recycled doug fir. The timber frame is wrapped in stress skin panels (6″ wall and 10″roof panels). The house has a concrete radiant floor, but most heat is provided by a centrally located Kachelofen masonry wood stove. (see picture 3) This stove (8’H X 8’L X 3’W) is built of stone removed from the building site during construction. The home was designed and built by Chuck Tucker with a lot of help from friends (from 2001-5).

Great room design allows kitchen and living areas to flow together. Cabinets are old growth doug fir just like the frame. Hammer Beams over head add an old world feel. Craftsman style lights give the room a warm glow.

Dormer window over the Hammer Beams add ventilation in the summer in the great room living area.

A canoe hangs from the hammer beams over the Kachelofen masonry wood stove that heats the home. A second story balcony looks into the great room right of the canoe.

A south facing dining nook expands out of the great room to complement the great room living area. Another canoe hangs from the hammer beams on the south wall under a stain glass window.

Second story frame rises in next bay West of the great room over the balcony. Dormer window provides ventilation for the second floor.
