I live in a century home in a small town in Southwestern Ontario. I knew when I moved in that the kitchen was small and dark, but loved the house and the in-town ravine lot. I bought magazines and read books for about 12 years, then finally hired a kitchen designer to help re-design the space. What a miracle!
Some surprises I encountered: the blue wall secretly held the drainage from the upstairs bathroom. Luckily, my construction contractor was very flexible and moved it to an outside wall, re-insulating the wall while it was open.
The laminate flooring (Torley’s perspective) is awesome. We laid it ourselves, and must have measured just right…had just ONE board left over. Scary, because the cabinet maker was coming the next day to install and we HAD to have the floor done. I find the main floor in-kitchen laundry very handy, but there is no where to lay stuff around, so I am forced against my will to put things away…:-)
