Timber Frame Turtle Lodge
This was an octagone timberframe that has a center compression cylinder that allows for a smoke chase and a free spand for the focal point, which is the sacred fire. It also has five small frames that jet out in opposing directions that create the head and four legs of the ‘Turtle Lodge’. The turtel is the simbol of healing in Cree native culture and that’s what this was meant to be, a healing lodge. I’ll add other photo’s when I get on my laptop. being a native american,i can relate to what you are doing, would like to see more....OUTSTANDING JOB,keep up the good work
Thanks! (or "meegwetch" in Cree) It was a lot of work. Certainly the most joints I've ever cut on one project. I didn't mean to add it in here as it seems there is a contest going on but I will add other pics. My great, great grandfather and grandmother were some of the founding members of the Chapleau Cree reserve. I felt destined to take on this project! :) I attended the openning ceremony it was a wonderful experience. Once again, thanks.
