This custom cabinet was designed to house a TV and audio components as well as to function as a room divider between the living room and dining room. The home has an open plan with spectacular views of Long Island Sound. As the homeowner did not want to obstruct any views, the TV rises out of the cabinet and disappears back into the cabinet when TV viewing is finished. (This action is accomplished via an electronic lift and remote-control.)
The cabinet houses the DVD player and other components as well as speakers. The unit also hides the sub-woofer which sits below the cabinet within the base. A hole covered with foam was placed in front of the woofer to allow for acoustics. The cabinetry was constructed of quarter sawn Sepele with a dark walnut stain applied.
