I recently retired and, of course, my wife, Terri, had the list of chores/projects all ready. New windows, doors and siding topped the list, but Terri had always wanted a covered entrance. So, since it would only a few percent to the overall cost, and since I was outdoors anyway, I built on a covered entrance for her. I used composite wood for the decking, which added to the cost, but this will work out in the long run, because of the longevity of the product. I used hidden fasteners on the decking, though I did have to attach the deck boards from underneath, but I think it was worth it since it produced a nice, neat effect. I think it turned out fairly well. All I need now are rain gutters. Retirement? What retirement? I never worked so much in my life!
