arbor
While visiting our accountant in NY city, I noticed that she had removed all the wrought iron in front of her brownstone. Since she said she was going to discard it, I asked if I could have it and she said yes! It was a 2-part banister and a little gate. I couldn’t believe my luck.
However, my treasures stayed in our garage for 15 years and they got rustier and rustier. Finally last year when we refurbished the deck, I scraped and painted them to their original glory and designed the arbor to support the poor wisteria that had been lying on the ground for years.
This year the wisteria bloomed again, adorning our fabulous arbor.
The little gate was too small to close the entrance of our hosta garden (deer, you know) so I added wood slats to it to make it wide enough. We still have work to do in that spot, but we are very proud ot it already.
