This is the replacement for a little white 2X tract home trellis that was rotting in the rear yard when we bought this home. It’s admittedly a bit larger in scope, however.
I’ve got a zinfandel vine growing at the northwest corner and it’s beginning to establish itself nicely. Wood is RS 8X14, 6X10, 4×4 DF Larch. Faux stone by El Dorado Stone over 12″ square CMU columns on sturdy foundations. I custom mixed a grout with heavy sand then washed it as it cured to expose texture. I custom blended stains by TWP and hand brushed every nook and cranny. No visible hardware, but long lasting strength. Lots of elbow grease and many “when is that thing going to be done!” comments from my wife . . .
Neighbors though I was building on an addition to the house when the lumber was delivered.
“Props” to framer Chase and his buddies for helping me get the “big stuff” up, to my neighbors for helping me get the lumber into the back yard, and especially to neighbor Richard for helping with all the 4X let-in cuts.
It was a labor of love but I’m glad it’s finished, and we know where to be when the “big one” hits So. Cal.
PS: Wife loves it now . . . ( whew ! )
