For 19 years we’ve been turning old houses into B&Bs. We’ve found the ONLY project the pets–both cats and dogs–really don’t like is stripping lead-based paint with a heat gun (now much more gear and containment used than in the “old days.”) The follow up wash with industrial strength ammonia to remove residual shellac was NOT a favorite of our dog, either!

They're smarter than we are! That stuff causes cancer & they knew harmful when they smelled the fumes! Take a tip from them & stay away from that nasty stuff...some things just need total replacement that's all...
