The existing kitchen was a mismatch of the original cabinetry and some free-standing furniture pieces….none of which matched very well and did not give enough work and storage space for a growing family of five.
The solution was to eliminate the furniture pieces and replace them with a new Island and built-in Pantry cabinets. The Island gave the kitchen a “center piece” with seperate work and eating surfaces plus trash pullout and storage drawers. The Pantry cabinets allowed the Fridge to move out of the corner and almost double the amount of storage from the origainl cabinetry. The kitchen is now better organized and more accessible for everyone’s enjoyment.

BEFORE: Island is small and sterile with that stainless steel top
BEFORE: Fridge is stuck in a corner with the trash can and the Sideboard is big but doesn't offer good storage:(
AFTER: New Island has a great butcherblock work surface with a raised soapstone eating counter plus lots of storage drawers. Sideboard goes away so Fridge can slide out of the corner and new Pantry Cabinets added for lots of new space.
AFTER: New Pantry Cabinets have enough space for all the dry goods and the microwave.
AFTER: Access to the Pantry items is easy on 100 lb full extension slides
