I don’t do kitchens per se, but when a client contacted me to design a specialty cabinet in his existing kitchen, I was intrigued. The new cabinet had to look as if it had been installed with the original, ie black cherry, crown moldings, frame and panel doors etc. He needed storage for a large collection of cookbooks and a myriad of spices and other gourmet ingredients within easy access. The cool thing about the design is the bank of apothecary drawers that are actually pull-out spice racks. I retro-fitted standard full extension drawer slides to hide the hardware and used a rosette cutter to make the fronts. The photos are not that great, but the client couldn’t be more pleased.

I like the style of the old spice drawer look with the practicality of the pull out shelves for spice bottles.
