This was an in-fill lot in an established view neighborhood. The biggest priorities were not to block the view of the existing home and to build the new home for $100.00/SF. The new lot is between two homes, there is a non-view corridor created by the front house and distant trees. The challenge was to locate the home within the wedge established by the view angles.
The challenge was met with multiple levels and wings. At the back of the lot there is a ground floor bedroom/bath/laundry wing that is hidden by a hedge and below the horizontal view plane. The driveway and garage is at street level, at the front of the lot. The master suite is the 2nd floor and is within the non-view wedge. The top floor is the living/dining and kitchen. This is the view level. The view is Mt. Baker to the east, Puget Sound, marina and Islands to the north, and Olympic mountains and ferries to the west.
