A very difficult north facing site on a north sloping hill at the water’s edge. The challenge was to fit a house and connected garage with kid rumpus room over it and create a sense of place . This is a year round retirement home so the house had to provide both a sense of security and coziness for the long Maine winter on a very hostile sight, and be able to breathe easier in the summer when kids and grandkids show up.
