The project intent was to design a second residence for a retiring couple with space for visiting relatives. The site is located in a planned community with restrictions on design and materials. The triangular lot shape and the steep contour of the lot as well as the view orientation contributed to the placement and shape of the plan. The requirement for a single story, level floor open plan was accomplished utilizing concrete stepped footings. The second floor Den/Office space was added for the use of the homeowner for a private office with seperate exterior entrance which doubles for a sleeping and playroom for visiting grandchildren. The Great Room with 12′ ceilings and French Doors is adjacent to the open Kitchen and is the hub of the house seperating the Sleeping Rooms with 9′ ceilings. A 1200 sq. ft. exterior deck that is partially covered, extends the living space to the outdoors and connects to lower patio areas. All rooms face west opening to the exterior deck and optimizing the expansive view. The 3-car Garage with custom wood doors has space for 2 cars and a recreational vehicle or space for a shop.
