As I was preparing for another season out in the cold, you know…cleaning gutters, stringing up Christmas lights and all of the other winter tasks; I was not looking forward to spending much time out in the elements.Maybe it is because I am getting older, maybe I am just more sensitive to the cold and the creaks and pains of my body are more pronounced than in seasons past, but I am not digging the cold as much as I used to.Sure, I like the changing of the season, seeing the leaves turn and fall and I love the look of freshly fallen snow. But the thought of shoveling and spending a lot of time outside in the cold was not as appealing as it once was. That was, until I ran across this new product from Milwaukee Power Tools.
Look, I’m not trying to boost up sales for these guys, although I do like Milwaukee’s line of tools.I have worked construction for a number of years and am familiar with a lot of their products, but this one threw me for a loop.It is a heated jacket. It runs off their M12 cordless battery pack and can hold a charge for up to 6 hours of continuous heat.It has three heat levels and even has a USB port that you can plug in a device to charge it up. This isn’t meant to be an infomercial for Milwaukee; I just think that this is a very cool product and not everybody has had the opportunity to see it.They thought of everything on this one and you can even get a car charger so that you can charge up on the way to the jobsite.
The battery is pretty compact and fits into a little pocket in the back of the jacket.I don’t know why somebody didn’t think of this earlier, and there probably have been similar products released in the past, built this jacket really is a brilliant idea.In fact, now that I picked up a jacket, which is doesn’t cost much more than a comparable winter jacket would cost, it’s making me think about checking out some of their other cordless tool products.Maybe that was the point in the first place; their marketing people could be straight up geniuses.Either way, this jacket helps make the cold weather not seem like such a burden after all and I am sure that the cost of the jacket is far outweighed by how happy my wife is that the honey do list is getting shorter each weekend.
This is my go to jacket right now; I wear it out in the morning when I walk the dog, and really anytime that I am going to spend more than a couple of minutes outside doing any sort of task.It just takes a couple of minutes to warm up and the battery pack is hardly noticeable, really no different or more intrusive than keeping a cell phone in your pocket.Check it out on Milwaukee’s website, you can find out where to purchase it from there.
