The kitchen remodel was one of the most critical parts of our entire home remodel. There was limitted natural light, with constraints to window placement and size due to heating and electric chases on the only outside wall. We transformed a dark gallery kitchen into a warm and functional work and gathering space. We saved money by going minimal on cainets opting for most storage in a pantry, and purchasing GE Cafe Series appliances. We splurged on a farmhouse sink. We used a pale yellow quartz composite for the counter tops to reflect the limitted natural light. A accent cabinet was constructed using skills learned as movie set propmaker, stamped cieling tiles were used in the cabinet doors. Cabinets were constructed of Alder and Restoration hardware knobs were purchased for a more upscale look. My wife and I did the majority of the work majority of the work including building the center island, and tile work.
We purchase inexpensive Georgia Pine flooring which we aged on site for 9 months and then finished with a cherry stain.
The entire kitchen remodel with appliances and firlplace redo was just under $30,000.
