This design/build project encompassed a complete remodel of a medium kitchen (approximately 185 square feet). As a high-profile NFL Network director, the homeowner wanted a kitchen that was eclectic and reflected her personality, while still creating a comfortable, inviting space for her to use and entertain guests.
Part of the challenge of this project was incorporating the many modern conveniences the homeowner desired into the space, while maintaining the eclectic balance between the ultra-modern and rustic aesthetic carried throughout the rest of her oceanfront Mediterranean home.
Using antique reclaimed pieces to create the center island and faux painting techniques on the walls to mimic the look of Venetian plaster, along with the installation hand-distressed floors and wood facing to disguise the steel beams needed to support a new second-story addition, the rustic elements that the client wanted were successfully incorporated into the kitchen. At the same time, custom glass and stainless steel cabinetry and modern appliances such as a built-in espresso machine lent the space an ultra-modern feel.
Since the client is constantly busy and traveling for work, she wanted a design that would feel warm and inviting and incorporate her unique sense of style. She wanted a kitchen that felt like a retreat to come home to after long days on the road for work, where she could entertain and relax in the space.
