This is a master bathroom remodel on my own home, I am a builder/remodeler but never get much time to work myself as I subcontract most of my work. I am a trained autobody specialist but have been building for over 25 years. In the past I restored many prize winning antique automobiles doing all the work myself in a small shop. I joined the family building business in 1987 and since that time I have turned my skills to woodworking.
Every aspect of the bathroom remodel was done by myself, including building the vanities, cabinets, mahogony tops, mirror frames, bench, etc. in my home workshop. All the plumbing, electric, sheetrock, painting, tile and flooring also was done by myself. The flooring was rough sawn pine that I milled just enough to leave some of the saw marks in, then I distressed the wood to appear as old pine flooring, in my shop I stained then sprayed amber shellac and then 2 coats of oil polyurethane to give an authentic old look. The flooring was then nailed through the face with hard cut flooring nails. In all I only spent about $6,000 on the project. Only the custom shower door was outsourced.
