This unique penthouse condo in Burlington, Vermont overlooks the dramatic scenery of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains beyond. The goal of this design/build project was to update the kitchen and adjacent sitting area with custom finishes and do it successfully with an economic focus. New replacement shaker cherry doors were added to existing cabinet boxes which were painted a rich burgandy red. A custom wine ladder with glass display shelves was built-in to bring a finished detail to the side of the pantry cabinet, giving the clients a place to store wine glasses and their collection of wines. All the countertops were replaced. The new custom island was built with high specificity and adorned with a cantilevered top made of Vermont green slate. The angled braces at the bar stool area visually compliments the new cherry fireplace surround and side pilasters in the adjoining sitting area. A curved dropped ceiling was created to emulate the soft curve of the island top and give the kitchen further definition in an open floor plan.
