Brick Fireplace Remodel
This fireplace remodel begin its life as an 18′ tall, 8′ wide wood burning rumford firebox, veneered with brick. The clients wanted stone so we chose to use a 1″ thick veneer for weight considerations. Each stone was dressed with hammer and chisel to give a hand-worked look before being sawn to a 1″ thickness. The clients wanted a dry-stacked look and we used a Colorado sandstone with Pennsylvania bluestone banding to break up the height. A douglas fir mantle completes the project. Extra care was given on the corners and junctions to give the impression of a thicker veneer.
